Yes as you read, I have spoken to Deepgulgs themselves. They asked me to review it and here I am. This has happened another time when another friend of mine, Xoullion needed a review for his wholesome monster girl game. (It is a cute, but mildly grindy RPGM game where you work to build a relationship with a Lamia. Still, it’s a solid start for a new dev.)

Now that I have sidetracked myself, onto Warlord: I like to admit these two are friends for the obvious reason, it’s truthful. But you know what would be a lie? Saying I didn’t enjoy Warlord. That would be a lie.
It is a very cookie cutter “you have something really bad happen to you and somehow something otherworldly comes to your aid and you are granted abilities” game. It hits a few notes for me in the right way (see Plastic Soul for the WRONG way, yes I need to let it go!). First it gives a plausible scenario, so it feels its not too out of the blue that it could feel like YOU in that situation in that world… and the other, the feeling something out there wants to help you. It sees your pain, your darkness, sadness, etc and goes out of its way to aid you. A “chicken soup for the soul” in video game form.
I like the characters around protag-kun, who I named DICK which lead to this hilarious screenshot.
As you can see, this highlights on the main issues: AI generated images. It IS in early production, so one can hope images like this get touched up and fixed, but things DO get better as you continue…
I also enjoy the I don’t know the word to use but UNIQUE animation style. It’s clearly 3D animated, but it has a nice charm to it. (Upon speaking to Gulgs himself, its Blender. Which makes it slightly impressive, given my knowledge of the program and that many things are made in there from SCRATCH.)
It’s a slightly linear story and the music and sound effects are pretty good. (Having sex noises really ads to the immersion, this will help with PM as its an idea I never thought of before…)
Overall though, I was entertained, however my one big issue was that this is clearly the third in a series and you get some heavy Athena’s Revenge spoilers at times playing this first… but if you are anti-FemTag and/or hate ince$t, you probably don’t care anyway. It’s worth the 7 dollars to lose yourself in a 6-8 hour fantasy tale that’s well told but its also NOT a finished product. Trust me, I am something of a fantasy tale writer myself.
